Lockhart Advances To 400 Meter Finals At USA Junior Championships

Freshman ties season best time of 47.23

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Ole Miss freshman Rodney Lockhart tied a personal best with a time of 47.23 in the preliminaries of the men's 400 meters at the USA Track and Field Junior Championships on Friday.

The Vaden, Miss. native finished fourth in heat one to advance to the finals. Lockhart's time was eighth overall. The finals of the men's 400 meters will start at 6:28 pm on Saturday.

"This was a big step for Rodney," said Ole Miss head coach Joe Walker. "To jump in and compete on a national level says a lot about his talent. This is great experience for him"

Lockhart tied a personal best set at the Ole Miss Dual Meet earlier this season.

Current Ole Miss All-American John Yarbrough and former national championship Antwon Hicks will compete in the men's 110-meter hurdles on Saturday at 3:05 pm.
