Rebels Tied For Seventh After First Round Of Play At 2006 SEC Championships

SEA ISLAND, Ga. - Ole Miss junior Kyle Ellis fired a 2-under-par 70 on the first 18-holes of play at the 2006 SEC Championships to lead the Rebels to a tie for seventh place in the team standings. Ellis is tied for ninth place among the individuals, while the Rebels are tied with Vanderbilt after posting a 290 on Friday.

Sophomore Jamie Howarth is tied for 19th place after carding a round of 72 on the first day of play. Freshman Larry Blatt is in a tie for 31st place as he was just one stroke behind Howarth with a 73. Sophomore David Marino and freshman Will Roebuck are tied for 42nd place after the first round as they each shot a 75 on Friday.

Georgia leads in the team standings with a 12-under-par 276 in the first round. Alabama is four strokes back at 280 for second place, while Florida is in third with a 285 after 18 holes.

Brian Harmon of Georgia is in the top medalist position after carding a 5-under-par 67. His Bulldog teammate Chris Kirk and Luke List of Vanderbilt are tied for second place after shooting a 68 on Friday.

Second round action at the 2006 SEC Championships will begin at 9 a.m. (EST) on Saturday at the Seaside Course at the Sea Island Golf Club.
