Rebels Tied For Fifth After One Round Of Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate
April 7, 2006 AUBURN, Ala. -
Four Rebel golfers are tied for 23rd place with a 3-over-par 75 after one round of play at the 2006 Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate on Friday. Sophomores David Marino and Jamie Howarth, junior Kyle Ellis and freshman Will Roebuck lead the way for the Rebels, helping notch Ole Miss a tie for fifth place after the first day of competition.
Freshman Larry Blatt is not far behind the other quartet of Rebels as he shot a 5-over-par 77 to earn a 42nd place tie after the first 18 holes.
Ole Miss carded an even 300 in the first round and is tied with Jacksonville State. Auburn leads the team competition with a 292. Charlotte is in second with a 292, while Memphis is in third with a 296.
Andrew Medley of Auburn and Ian Rochester of Saint Louis lead the individual competition with a 2-under-par 70. Peter O'Keefe of LSU is in third place, just one stroke behind Medley and Rochester at 71.
Action will resume with Saturday's second round of play beginning at 8 a.m. The tournament will conclude with a third and final round to be played on Sunday.
