Lady Rebels Stumble In Final Round Of SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational To Finish 14th

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -
A day after turning in rounds of 312 and 309, the Ole Miss women's golf team struggled in the final round of play Sunday with a 336 to finish 14th in the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational hosted at the University of Florida Golf Course.
"We are still lacking that consistency," said Ole Miss head coach Meghan Bolger. "We played fairly well on Saturday and were right in the thick of things. In the final round we struggled. It was a very disappointing way to close out the tournament."
The host Lady Gators took home the team title with a three-round total of 884. Purdue was in second place, 14 strokes behind Florida with an 898. South Florida finished third after also posting an 898.
Freshman Dori Carter led Ole Miss for the second-straight tournament. Carter tied for 19th place in the individual standings. She turned in a 79 in the final round to finish with a three-round total of 228.
Senior Laura Evans carded an 83 on Sunday to finish with a 243 for the tournament. Evans finished in a tie for 58th place. Junior Katie Davidson shot an 85 in the final round to post a tournament total of 245. Davidson finished in a tie for 61st place.
Freshman Rachel Ingram scored an 89 in Sunday's final round to finish with a 246 for the tournament. Ingram tied for 65th place. Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Rebels was sophomore Katherine Jones. Jones posted a 91 on Sunday, giving her a tournament total of 253. She finished in 72nd place.
Sophomore Sandra Gal of Florida was the top individual finisher in the tournament. Gal posted a 74-71-72--217 for the win. She was followed by Sarah Sturm of Alabama with a 73-74-71--218. Florida freshman Mallory Blackwelder was third with a 70-73-76--219.
The Lady Rebels will return to action on Friday, March 24 when they travel to Athens, Ga., for the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic.
