Evans Leads Lady Rebels On First Day Of John Kirk/Lady Panther Invitational

ATLANTA, Ga. -
Lady Rebel senior Laura Evans carded a 77 in the first round of the John Kirk/Lady Panther Invitational on Monday to lead Ole Miss to a sixth-place tie in the team standings with a 316. Evans is in a tie for 10th place in the individual standings with two rounds left to play.
Fellow senior Sarah Kate Cousart is just one stroke behind Evans with a 78 and is tied for 17th place, while freshman J.J. Flynn is tied for 31st place with her first round mark of 80. Fellow freshman Dori Carter turned in an 81 and is tied for 43rd place, and junior Katie Davidson rounded out the scoring with an 84. Davidson is tied for 57th place.
Sophomore Katherine Jones is playing in the tournament as an individual and is tied for 62nd place after carding an 85 on Monday.
East Carolina leads in the team standings with a 307 in the first round of play. Coastal Carolina is two strokes behind the Pirates with a 309 and is tied with Memphis, who also turned in a 309 on Monday.
Ali Kicklighter of Kentucky and Joanna Klatten of Georgia State are tied for top medalist honors after posting a 73 in the first round.
Action will resume at the John Kirk/Lady Panther Invitational with second round play slated to begin at 8 a.m., on Tuesday.
