Lady Rebels Finish 8th At John Kirk/Lady Panther Invitational

ATLANTA, Ga. -
Senior Sarah Kate Cousart tied for 18th place with her two-round total of 78-79--157 to lead Ole Miss to an eighth place finish in the team standings of the John Kirk/Lady Panther Invitational on Tuesday. Ole Miss carded 316 in both rounds to tally a total of 632, just 12 strokes out of first place.
"We have been talking so much about being consistent," said Ole Miss head coach Meghan Bolger. "We finally got that out of this group. We need to continue to improve each day, but I was pleased with the way the girls were focused in both rounds."
Fellow senior Laura Evans and freshman J.J. Flynn tied for 21st place. Evans shot a 77-81--158, while Flynn turned in a 80-78--158. Freshman Dori Carter was right behind those two with her 81-78--159. Carter finished in a tie for 28th place. Junior Katie Davidson rounded out the scoring for Ole Miss with her 84-98--182. She finished in 72nd place.
Sophomore Katherine Jones played in the tournament as an individual. Jones finished in 68th place with her 85-88--173.
Augusta State improved 18 strokes in Tuesday's second round, shooting a 301 after posting a 319 in Monday's opening round. ASU's 620 was one stroke ahead of second-place finishers Louisville and Memphis who tied with 621.
Ole Miss will return to action April 14-16 when they travel to Nashville, Tenn., for the 2006 SEC Championships hosted by Vanderbilt.
