Lady Rebels In 11th Place After Day One Of SEC Championships

FRANKLIN, Tenn. -
The Ole Miss women's golf team carded a 318 on Friday at the Vanderbilt Legends Club and is currently in 11th place after the opening round of the Southeastern Conference Championships.
Lady Rebel senior Laura Evans turned in a 77 to lead the team and sits in a tie for 23rd after one round. Freshman Rachel Ingram of Jonesborough, Tenn., posted a 78, senior Sarah Kate Cousart shot an 80, freshman Dori Carter recorded an 83, and junior Katie Davidson finished with an 88.
Defending SEC Champion Auburn leads the tournament field after shooting a 12-over-par 300. Georgia and Tennessee are tied for second place with a 301. The top six teams in the field, which includes 10 teams in the Golfweek top 50 poll, are within four strokes of one another. LSU's Caroline Martens and Alexis Rather fired even-par 72s on the opening day of play to lead the individual field.
Play in the Southeastern Conference Championships continues Saturday morning with the second round. Tee times begin at 9 a.m. ET.
