Evans Continues To Lead Ole Miss At 2006 SEC Championships

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
The Ole Miss women's golf team carded a 315 on Saturday at the Vanderbilt Legends Club and dropping to 12th place after the second round of the 2006 Southeastern Conference Championships. The Lady Rebels posted a 318 on Friday to turn in a two-day total of 633.
Lady Rebel senior Laura Evans continues to lead Ole Miss. Evans is tied for 34th place with her two day total of 77-76--153. Fellow senior Sarah Kate Cousart moved up to a tie for 46th place after posting a 77 on Saturday. Cousart's two-round total is 80-77--157. Freshman Rachel Ingram is tied for 49th place with her two-day total of 78-82--160, while freshman Dori Carter is tied for 58th place with her 83-83--166. Junior Katie Davidson rounds out the scoring for the Lady Rebels with her 88-80-168. Davidson is in a tie for 59th place.
Defending SEC Champion Auburn leads the tournament field after shooting a 6-under-par 282 on Saturday. The Tigers have a two-round total o f300-282--582. Georgia is in second place with its score of 301-285--586. The top four teams in the field, which includes 10 teams in the Golfweek top 50 poll, are within eight strokes of one another.
Auburn's Maria Martinez fired a 68 on Saturday to take over control of the top medalist spot. Martinez leads with her 73-98--141. Taylor Leon of Georgia is two strokes behind Martinez in second place with her 75-68--143.
Play in the Southeastern Conference Championships continues Sunday morning with the final round of play. Tee times begin at 9 a.m. ET.
